Mihoko Oka

Mihoko Oka is an assistant Professor at the Historiographical Institute, University of Tokyo. She interests in large: Maritime and Economic History in East Asia relating with European Countries during 16^th-17^th centuries.

She has been working as an assistant professor since 2003 at the Historiographical Institute, University of Tokyo. The major materials to be analyzed are Jesuit letters concerning Japan and the governmental records of Portuguese India with a lot of information concerning East and Southeast Asian history in the 16^th and 17^th centuries.

She received her final academic degree, Ph. D, History, from the Kyoto University in 2006. Her dissertation was Nagasaki and Macau at the beginning of Early Modern Japan-from analysis of documents in Portuguese, Spanish and Italian languages.
