Conference: Consuls, Facilitators for Market Intermediation in Europe and the Mediterranean World (XVII-XIX Centuries)
Centre for the Modern and Contemporary Mediterranean of University of Nice Sophia Antipolis will host the “Consuls, facilitators for market intermediation in Europe and the Mediterranean world (XVII-XIX centuries)” conference from 10 April through 12 April, 2014.
This conference will aim to reflect on three aspects.
- To recognize and understand the use and usefulness of commercial information collected by consuls.
- To analyze the judicial function of consuls.
- To study consuls’ defensive function for national economy, commerce and maritime interests.
The official language for the conference is French, but Spanish is also used for the communication purpose; English and Italian are also viable.
