Conference: Consuls, Facilitators for Market Intermediation in Europe and the Mediterranean World (XVII-XIX Centuries)

Centre for the Modern and Contemporary Mediterranean of University of Nice Sophia Antipolis will host the “Consuls, facilitators for market intermediation in Europe and the Mediterranean world (XVII-XIX centuries)” conference from 10 April through 12 April, 2014.

This conference will aim to reflect on three aspects.

  1. To recognize and understand the use and usefulness of commercial information collected by consuls.
  2. To analyze the judicial function of consuls.
  3. To study consuls’ defensive function for national economy, commerce and maritime interests.

The official language for the conference is French, but Spanish is also used for the communication purpose; English and Italian are also viable.
